How strong are the passwords MyToolsBag generates?

MyToolsBag uses the browser's Web Crypto API to generate cryptographically random passwords. A 16-character password with all character sets is effectively uncrackable by brute force.

Is my generated password sent anywhere?

No. Passwords are generated 100% in your browser and never sent to any server or stored.

What length should I use?

Use at least 16 characters for accounts you care about, and 20+ for financial or work accounts. Longer beats complex — length matters most.

How long should a password be in 2026?

The current baseline is 16 random characters for anything important and 20+ for a primary email, banking, or password-manager master password. GPU cracking speeds keep rising, so older "8 to 12 characters is fine" advice is out of date.

Is a random string or a passphrase safer?

Both are safe if long enough. A 16-character random string has ~105 bits of entropy; a six-word Diceware-style passphrase has ~77 bits — both are far beyond any offline attack. Passphrases are much easier to type on a phone; random strings are fine when a password manager fills them in.

Should I include symbols and numbers?

Yes — enabling all four character sets (uppercase, lowercase, digits, symbols) maximizes entropy per character. But length matters more: a 20-character password with only letters beats a 12-character one with symbols.

Can I generate a memorable passphrase here?

This tool generates random-character passwords. For a memorable multi-word passphrase, pick 5–7 unrelated dictionary words separated by spaces or dashes — that's the pattern behind Diceware and works well as a master password.

Should I still use 2FA if my password is long?

Yes. Length protects you when a site's password database leaks. Two-factor authentication (especially a hardware key like YubiKey or a phone-based authenticator) protects you when an attacker just tries to log in through the normal front door. Use both.
